ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
FOR SEMINARIANS

     It is preferred that applicants be sponsored through at least two written recommendations by an ordained person to be eligible for a consideration for admission as seminarians.  Requirements for our admission to the seminary may be separate and distinct from those required for ones own diocese or religious community.  No more than 25 percent of the credits required and validated through our review process for degree shall be awarded for prior learning.

REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES

  1. Complete official written and/or oral examination at time of applicant's entrance into seminary.  (Optional)
  2. Candidates must present the following academic credentials:
  3. G.E.D. (General Education Degree) of high school diploma, and/or student must be working towards G.E.D or it's equivalent, high school transcript or equivalent document or procedures.
  4. Honest desire for seminary work by written statement and two written recommendations by an ordained person or non-relative.  (Optional)
  5. Interview by Dean and/or Clergy.

Confession of faith; the principles of seminary life must be accepted and signed. (Optional)

  1. Transfer students will be placed according to requirements met by Canon Law

the Program of Priestly Formation.

DOCUMENTATION

      Each candidate is responsible for providing the seminary with the following records in a timely fashion.

  1. Transcripts/ Degrees from each seminary, college, institution, and university attended are to be sent to the seminary.
  2. Record of any official church ministry previously received.
  3. Web Site recruitment.

     St. Michael Seminary reserves the right to require an entrance examination of a student and/ or to admit him on probation.  St. Michael Seminary reserves the right to refuse, to admit or readmit any student at any time should it be deemed to be required in the interest of the student or the seminary to do so, and to require the withdrawal of any student/ faculty at any time who fails to give honest cooperation in requirements for acceptable scholarship and behavior.

St. Michael Academy reserves the right to add or subtract any courses in any religious degree program. St. Michael Academy also reserves the right to add or subtract any degree programs, and to change the course content, exams, syllabi, catalog content and assignments at their discretion.

UPDATING AND CURRENT REVIEW
St. Michael Academy is currently in the process of updating our publication by reviewing our procedures and information. It is the CEO, Archbishop +Haralambos, who reviews any concerns and it is his sole discretion to grant or deny any past or present student or faculty requests after reviewing written purpose for any request of any kind involving release of any information that could affect the seminary either in a positive or negative manner.

AWARD OF ACADEMIC TRANSFER CREDITS
Students must make a formal request in writing by mail, or email requesting evaluation for previous completed seminary course work for transfer credits or for obtaining any documentation. (This formal request must include their address, phone number, date of birth, email address, and current photo of driver license). Before submitting a request for evaluation, applicant must have first completed an online application form completely and accurately. (This process includes the original application form filled out at the time of entrance.) There is no charge and no obligation for submitting the application. If we do not have an original application on file or the original application when first submitted is not completely and accurately filled out, we cannot proceed to evaluate any request for transcript and/or transcript evaluation due to lack of compliance by the applicant. This procedure identifies the validity of the applicant’s identity and is a required standard procedure for all students and is a safety measure. Applicable time is necessary for transcript evaluation and production due to a review process.

NOTICE CONCERNING TRANSFERABILITY OF CREDITS AND CREDENTIALS EARNED AT ST. MICHAEL ACADEMY SEMINARY:
The transferability of credits completed at the religious institution of St. Michael Academy is at the complete discretion of the institution to which students may seek to transfer. If the religious degree or credits that were earned at St. Michael Academy is not accepted at the institution to which you seek to transfer, you may be required to repeat some or all of your coursework at that institution. Any secular or religious job placement may not accept some or all of your coursework and for this reason; students should make certain that your attendance at St. Michael Academy will meet your educational goals. This may include contacting an institution to which you may seek to transfer after attending St. Michael Academy to determine if your religious degree or credits will be transferred. St. Michael Academy does not guarantee job placements or acceptance of courses or religious degrees by any employer or potential employer. All religious programs do not necessarily meet the state licensure requirements for practicing related occupations and professions in Florida or elsewhere.

LIMITED LIABILITY.
Applicant agrees that in no event, shall any liability to St. Michael Academy which may arise as a result of the St. Michael Academy policy or other circumstances involving the applicant and St. Michael Academy, exceed the applicants tuition and processing fee which has been paid up to the time during which any claim of liability may arise during the course of their study. Any granted waiving of tuition fees for individuals who prove they are under financial hardship also agree that in no event, shall any liability to St. Michael Academy , exceed the tuition of the religious degree they pursued.

SEVERANCE.
The student and faculty member understands that should any information submitted by the applicant or faculty member be found to be false, misleading, or not complete, the student or faculty member may be dismissed from enrollment or the faculty member may be released from their position at St. Michael Academy and any or all credits granted or earned may be forfeited.

 

ATTENDANCE POLICY
The effect of absences upon grades is determined by the instructor and ST. MICHAEL ACADEMY OF ESCHATOLOGY reserves the right to deal at anytime with individual cases of nonattendance.

FINAL EXAM PERIOD
Final Exams and/or Thesis Paper, Field Projects for Fall & Spring are due during the last week of each semester.  Course examinations may be given at the discretion of the faculty member teaching the course.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY POLICY
As condition to enrollment, students agree that upon completion of their thesis, it becomes the sole ownership of ST. MICHAEL ACADEMY OF ESCHATOLOGY.  The thesis and research thereof may be used on our Internet Site.

HONORS CONVOCATION
An Honors Convocation may be held each year to recognize high scholastic attainment by individual students and superior dedication to teaching by individual faculty members.

PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT
Provides credit for knowledge acquired outside the traditional classroom.  Students who demonstrate and/or document previous learning may be able to earn college credit.  Adults often obtain valuable skills and knowledge through working, receiving seven sacraments demonstrating spiritual knowledge, doing volunteer work or have taken classes in the Armed Services or at a vocational school.

Assessments to obtain non-traditional credit might include: Spiritual Assessment by oral or written interview or by observation of faculty or clergy of receiving any of the seven sacraments. Faculty will observe student receiving any of the seven sacraments. Requirements faculty will observe: development of the intellectual skills, habits of thought, ethical values, and the love of learning. Self motivated religious acquisition of knowledge is important. Another requirement is good written communication. Faculty will observe within writing assignments whether a student engages in intellectual activities central to course objectives writing must exhibit clarity, coherence, comprehensiveness, and mechanical correctness. Faculty will observe students academic integrity such as analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating information to formulate conclusions and arguments.

Portfolio Evaluation- In some instances, a narrative document that details experiences, training, formal education or work background may be used.  Also, the participation of faculty members in life experience providing spiritual assistance to special needs of a student may be used as personal testimony of the student. Length of participation in describing assisting a student by events can be used. This can be documented in many ways and an affidavit is one way to provide adequate information.

Certificate Evaluation- In some cases a certificate of successful completion of training in order to get credit for a course covering same material might be used.

Proficiency Exams- In some cases a specific course by demonstrating of satisfactory level of achievement on a department exam which can be written, oral, practical life experience, or any combination of these can be used.

AP College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB –AP) Advanced placement exams for high school students might be used.

Prior military training.

Restrictions:

A max of 30 hours of credit through non- traditional means

All non-traditional earned credit is recorded on a student’s transcript AFTER completion of at least 6 hours of course work at St. MAE.

Non-traditional credit might be used toward a degree at St. MAE through prior learning but may not transfer to another college or university.

Credit cannot be used to repeat coursework credit in which you have received a grade.

You may be awarded credit if you have received credit through other nontraditional programs representing the same content.

REPORTING CRIME
Report crime to any director. Confidential reporting to CEO and any incidents are disclosed in the annual crimes statistics upon request with no identifying information. Call 911 for crimes. CEO and or dean are authorized whether to launch an alert. The following criteria must be considered.

Is the situation under control or still ongoing?
What is the potential for the situation to worsen?

Life Safety / Property Protection
What is the potential for death?
What is the potential for serious injury?
What is the potential for minor injury
What is the potential for damage to property and facilities?
What is the potential for disruption to normal course of business?

Urgency
How soon does the message need to go out? (minutes, hours, days)
Is there time for approval?

Audience
Who needs to be alerted and where? (Administration, faculty, staff, students, visitors)
Timely warnings will be issued through appropriate means. Evacuation maps are located by EXIT.
For crime reporting: All police reports are public records under state law.
